Ben Charles is a singer, songwriter, poet, actor, filmmaker and a pretty good cook.
He was born in Los Angeles, to a trans-atlantic family, and raised between North America and the British Isles.
He grew up playing to audiences in England, France and the United States. He also learned craft working in Hollywood.
He put out his debut album ‘Before The Fire’ in 2023, working with mixer Hugo Nicolson (In Rainbows) and mastering engineer Dave McNair (The Next Day).
His music has been described as “traveling music”, as “psychedelic folk rock” as “eclectic” and as “timeless”. His style and vocal range has drawn comparisons to Leonard Cohen and Lou Reed, Jeff Buckley and Elliott Smith.
Currently he is living on an old oil field in Southern California, he has formed a band called “The Flames” and he is writing and recording a new double LP entitled ‘Deep Son’, due to be released in 2027.
